A luxury cottage on top of the Wakayama mountains.

Welcome to our beautiful Japanese mountain view house. We are conveniently situated within a one hour drive of Kansai Airport. The local industry of Oishi-kogen is mainly farming of Mikan (Small sweet oranges) around the house you will see them and also be able to watch the harvesting. We are very lucky to have a beautiful fresh stream running by the house where you can see many fresh water crabs! Don't worry they are very small. The locals cook and eat them, crab tempura! The sound of the running stream is very relaxing especially at night. The cool water of the stream is also very pleasant during the hot Japanese summers. For the cooler seasons we have a beautiful 5 seater Jacuzzi that you can immerse yourself in while viewing night sky sipping a glass of wine, locally produced Sake or one of the very tasty beers produced by Golden River (see Discover)

The Cottage

The house is situated high up in the mountains of Oishi-Kogen over looking the Mikan (Orange) terraces. During the day you you can feel the fresh mountain breeze from the valley below. In the evening as the sun sets over the mountains and darkness falls the sky comes alive with millions of brightly shinning stars like you've never seen before. After a busy day touring the local sites / beaches you can relax in the silence of your surroundings while sitting in your private 5 seater Jacuzzi star gazing. One of the traditional features of the house is the Japanese bath (Goemomburo) as in the popular Japanese movie “My Neighbour Totoro” We have also installed a full modern bath/shower unit just in case you don't want to squeeze into the Japanese bath!

Tastefully renovated and yet still retains that Japanese Kominka charm.
